Here are some photos I took at the PPUK and Open Rights Group anti-surveillance protest in Manchester on 29 September. This was my first protest and I shan’t embellish them with much description because there’s a good write-up of the day here which reflects my own experience pretty well.
I’ve been to and organised a couple of similar sized rallies, however before we arrived at our assembly point I hadn’t quite grokked that this one would be marching off to join the 50,000 strong national demonstration at the Tory party conference, nor just how long and tiring it can be taking part in such a thing! It was still great fun and a worthwhile experience, though our message probably wasn’t very visible in the throng, and I was glad to escape the march near the end of the route for a victory pint…
